An Important Price for Priceless Results
As a result of participation in Philly TAP, teachers can advance
professionally and earn higher salaries, just as in other careers.
And they can do so without leaving the place they're needed most -
the classroom. Now that's a win-win situation.
Performance Awards
In the TAP system, teachers are recognized and rewarded for
their professional accomplishments both in improving their
instructional processes and increasing their students' achievement.
Every Philly TAP instructional teacher and administrator is
eligible for a performance award at the conclusion of the school
year, in addition to their guaranteed salaries.
Calculating Growth & Awards
Philly TAP is based on the premise that all children can learn,
despite external factors and socioeconomic conditions. So classroom
gains are measured through student academic growth, rather than
reaching a specific attainment level. Regardless of where their
students start the year academically, teachers are rewarded based
upon how much their students improve, not by the percentage of
students that "meet" or "exceed" certain scores on standardized
tests
