A Roadmap for Success
Developing high-caliber educators is no simple feat. But with
the research-based best practices, student-centered strategies and
data-driven decisions employed in professional growth sessions,
Philly TAP puts its teachers at the forefront of education.
Coaching
Teachers are given first-rate support and guidance from
experienced TAP leaders through individualized, weekly coaching
sessions. Promoting an environment of trust and collaboration,
coaching is confidential, non-evaluative and supportive.
Professional Development
TAP restructures the school schedule to provide 60-90 minutes
during the regular school day for targeted professional
development. Teachers meet weekly for clusters, professional
learning groups led by master and mentor teachers with the school
that focus on teacher collaboration for instructional improvement.
Additional training and professional development opportunities are
provided year-round, such as the annual Philly TAP Summer
Institute.
Reflective Journals
Philly TAP also calls on teachers to become active agents of
their own professional growth by maintaining a reflective journal
to better understand how their teaching strategies affect the
achievement of their students and to identify ways to increase
their instructional proficiency.
