There is no "I" in TAP
The best and the brightest are teaming up to take on the
challenge of education reform with the TAP system. And securing a
victory requires the hard work and dedication of a talented roster
of principals, administrators, specialists, mentor and master
teachers, and career teachers in every school.
Administrators
Heading the leadership team, administrators are critical to
ensuring the overall success of the Philly TAP system in their
schools. Administrators assume important responsibilities,
providing support and coaching for master and mentor teachers,
conducting ongoing instructional analysis of teachers, planning and
facilitating leadership team meetings and managing the distribution
of performance awards.
Master Teachers
Highly skilled and experienced educators, master teachers are
released from classroom duties to serve as coaches to teachers in
Philly TAP schools. Master teachers plan and implement clusters,
where they teach student-centered instructional strategies; align
cluster goals to the school's yearly goals and assist teachers in
tracking progress toward those goals through training, support and
coaching.
Mentor Teachers
Mentor teachers work together with master teachers to provide
support for the career teachers in Philly TAP schools. They are
released from the classroom for at least five hours each week for
TAP responsibilities, including co-planning and implementing
clusters, helping teachers develop their self-reflective journals
and conducting classroom instruction analyses.
Career Teachers
Responsible for implementing new teaching strategies in the
classroom to improve student learning, career teachers are at the
core of Philly TAP. Career teachers receive one-on-one coaching
every week in the Philly TAP system and maintain a self-reflective
journal through which they develop analytical skills to identify
their own strengths and weaknesses in the classroom.
TAP Staff
Additional school-based, ongoing guidance is provided for all
Philly TAP schools by the TAP director, TAP coordinator and TAP
specialists, who offer unparalleled expertise with a combined 80+
years of experience as educators in the School District of
Philadelphia.
